The Strangest Meal I’ve Eaten This Year: Tostilocos

On a recent trip to Ikea in Carson I was craving tacos.  A quick glance at my Yelp app led me to nearby El Antojito, a taco stand at 168th and Figueroa in Gardena.  In addition to the usual fare, customers ordered a mysterious dish – a bag of chips, cut open and piled high with cucumber, jicama, pickled pork rinds, Japanese peanuts and a lime wedge.  It was so bizarre I had to try it (minus the pickled pork rinds).

A google search tells me that this concoction, called Tostilocos, can be found on every street corner in Tijuana.  Days later I’m still not sure I understand it!
