The Writers Guild of America East has charged that Joan Rivers has "violated the union's rules by writing and by performing showrunner duties for the E! Network show Fashion Police." Rivers is a lifetime member of the guild. Lowell Peterson, executive director for WGA East, explains to The Business producer Darby Maloney what this charge means and what Rivers faces when she has to appear at a"“hearing before a three-person trial board." If found guilty the punishment could be a fee or expulsion from the guild.
