Whether it be through his Phantasy label, DJing or production, Erol Alkanbreathes pure dancefloor fire.

Now, he’s breathed twitchy acid vibes into Tame Impala’salready super trippy, breathy “Be Above It“.

It starts familiar enough but descends maddeningly into almost Broken-era Nine Inch Nails meets Surrender-era Chemical Brothers chaos, with the vocal loop swirling into whispery incantation amid a din of colliding drum loops. The track bubbles with acidic phrases and an EMS Synthi AKS (Dr. Who synth) adds crazy textures throughout.

It’s a serious mindbender of a rework. A sonic equivalent to the cover of Innerspeaker, some infinitely refracted and warped sonic depth of field. Lewis Carroll in a downtown warehouse at 4:40am on a Sunday morning.

The limited 12″ (and digital) rework comes out TODAY.
