Over the course of four albums, numerous singles and loads of remixes, Canadian duo Junior Boys, aka Jeremy Greenspan and Matt Didemus, may be “junior” in nomenclature, but they are “senior” among artists defining the electro-pop sound for the 21st Century.
Although it has been nearly five years since their last album, they’ve been keeping busy with solo projects, assisting new talents (including working with Jessy Lanza, their current European tour-mate), and prepping their triumphant return. And that time is at hand, with their 5th album, Big Black Coat, due out next month on their new label home, City Slang.
Two album tracks, “Over It” & the album’s title cut, have been released in the past few weeks, but today we get to hear a new remix of “Over It” from Hyperdub favorite Ikonika, which brings a totally different perspective to the original and which suggests the spirit of exploration & renewed vigor Junior Boys are taking with their new tunes.
