Nothing hits quite like a visit with old friends. While plenty of our MBE Guest DJ sets convey that feeling, there's a subtle-yet-crucial difference between a solid rapport… and deep shared history. Such is the case with Ale and Frosty — in the midst of celebrating the 24th anniversary of revolutionary internet radio station and LA cultural institution dublab, the two drop a heady mix of sounds representing the past, present and “future roots radio” at the core of dublab’s ethos. Think: Jimetta Rose, Julia Holter, Alice Coltrane, Mia Doi Todd, Dntel, and Daedelus (to name a few). Plus, a conversation eagerly attuned to the future in which Ale notes that the bulk of dublab’s current programming is coming from folks in their early twenties, the surest sign imaginable that “future roots radio” is a perpetual movement.
