    Dec 12, 2023

Stones Throw record label boss, DJ, Highland Park entrepreneur, and now singer Chris Manak (aka Peanut Butter Wolf) is here to play Santa with his bag full of previously unheard sonic goodies. With anticipation for Campus Christy — Manak’s new project as vocalist and bandleader alongside multi-instrumentalist Brian Ellis — at a fever pitch around these parts, we had to get him in asap to share some selects.

Get into this one immediately for Campus Christy’s harmony-laden, classic-Motown-girl-group-conjuring “Candles,” featuring the handiwork of the power trio behind KCRW’s number one album of 2023, Say Say She. Plus, Stones Throw’s latest signee Bardo (Chicano Batman) delivers a realist’s twist on a “Love Song,” Silas Short’s buttery vocals make us swoon, and we hear a Chrome Canyon cut so magical that folks have offered PBW hard currency to deliver repeat spins of it during DJ sets.

All of this is yours for the hearing via the player above, and ONLY via the player above. Every track played during this set is a KCRW exclusive that you won’t hear anywhere else for quite some time. If you enjoy this type of sonic exploration, become a member today during KCRW’s Season of Giving Back Winter Pledge Drive. Your support will keep ‘em coming throughout 2024 and beyond.
