Next week, LA County’s courts are moving forward in reopening efforts after nearly three months of on-site closures. Non-jury criminal and civil cases that have been handled remotely will now be back in the courtroom. Hearings and traffic court will also return. Safety guidelines will require social distancing and mask wearing. But will it work? One public defender has already died from the virus, while county jails have been sites of large outbreaks. How do the people who work in the courts feel about the reopening?
