Trump administration says it could withhold federal highway funds from California over pollution

An ongoing war between California and the Trump administration has covered many issues: immigration, the Census, and the environment. Now the Environmental Protection Agency has sent a letter to California’s Air Resources Board threatening to withhold transportation funding. The feud is over air quality. 

EPA Chief Andrew Wheeler accused California of failing to take actions required under the Clean Air Act, and that has allowed the buildup of more than 130 inactive smog-reduction plans.
