Extra unemployment money will run out soon for millions of Americans. Will Congress extend it?

Joe Biden today is unveiling a 10-year, $775 billion plan to provide daycare, elder care, and care for the disabled. He’s also laying out a proposal for emergency funding to states to help child care centers during the pandemic.

Meanwhile, Congress is back in session. It’s the second day of negotiations between Capitol Hill and the White House over the next coronavirus relief package.

President Trump is pushing hard for a payroll tax cut. Neither Republicans nor Democrats want anything to do with that. In less than 10 days, the $600 per week federal unemployment benefit runs out.
