Emmy nominee Laverne Cox on elevating stories of trans people

Laverne Cox has earned her third Emmy nomination for her role as sassy hairdresser and inmate Sophia Burset on Netflix's "Orange is the New Black." Through that role, Cox sheds light on real issues around the transgender community and criminal justice. "It is my job, my responsibility… to speak about trans folks who are out there struggling," she says.
