Sanctuary cities are places that limit their cooperation with federal officials when it comes to detaining undocumented immigrants. City officials in Los Angeles, San Francisco and Oakland have pledged to keep their sanctuary policies. However, Trump has threatened to cut off all federal dollars to cities and counties that refuse to fully cooperate with immigration enforcement.
