Amazon says it’s going to spend $700 million to retrain a third of its U.S. workforce for new jobs, and in some cases, jobs that Amazon doesn't even offer. These are optional classes for employees to learn nursing skills or how to work on airplanes. That’s in addition to preparing workers for more advanced jobs within Amazon, like software engineering and IT support.

AT&T, Walmart, and JP Morgan Chase have also launched similar programs to help their employees prepare for a changing job market.
