The U.S. Department of Education has opened more than two dozen investigations into whether Title IX is being violated by women-only programs aimed at fixing the gender disparity in fields like science, technology, engineering, and math. Title IX is the federal education rule that bars discrimination based on sex. Some 200 universities (including UCLA, Yale, and Princeton) offer women-specific scholarships, development programs, and workshops.
