The Health and Human Services Department has told clinics like Planned Parenthood that if they want to keep receiving federal funds, they can’t refer their patients for abortions. So Planned Parenthood says it will forgo federal funding, and use their own emergency funds while they battle this out in court.

Meanwhile, Dr. Leana Wen has been ousted as the nonprofit's president. She tweeted that her removal was due to “philosophical differences over the direction and future of Planned Parenthood.” This leaves the organization without a leader in a time of uncertainty over the future of reproductive rights in this country.
