History of the LAPD and Black Communities

Hosted by

Last week began with the shooting deaths of Alton Sterling in Baton Rouge and Philando Castile in Minnesota at the hands of cops. It ended with the shooting deaths of five police officers in Dallas at a protest over the Sterling and Castile killings. Given what’s happening across the country, many Angelenos can’t help but think back to times like the Watts riots of 1965, the Rodney King riots of 1992 and the OJ Simpson trial of 1994. How far have we come since those times? And how has policing here in LA changed?
