Navy Seal accused of killing ISIS captive is found not guilty

Navy Seal Chief Edward Gallagher has been found not guilty of murder in the killing of a teenage ISIS captive in Iraq. He received widespread support from Republican Congressmen leading up to his trial, and President Trump helped get him moved to less restrictive barracks before it started. Today the president tweeted “Glad I could help!”

Prosecutors in the case hit a snag a few weeks ago, when another SEAL unexpectedly testified that he, not Gallagher, killed the ISIS fighter. The jury did convict Gallagher on one charge: taking a photo of himself with the corpse. That carries a maximum punishment of four months.
