One issue that’s being presented as a moral issue and will appear on the November ballot in California is the death penalty. The Catholic Conference is urging voters to approve a ballot measure that would abolish the state’s death penalty. That’s Proposition 62 – the Repeal of the Death Penalty Initiative. Another initiative on the ballot would speed up executions. That’s Proposition 66 – the Death Penalty Procedures Initiative. Both measurements are intended to fix a system that everyone seems to agree is broken. With 747 death row inmates, California has far more people waiting for execution than any other state.
