Facebook has about 15,000 content reviewers who are responsible for removing graphic violence, hate speech and images of child abuse from our feeds. Almost all of them don’t work for Facebook, but instead are independent contractors. They make about $28,000 a year. The content they sift through is traumatic and many develop mental health issues. Others start believing the conspiracy theories they are exposed to.
