More than 80 whales starved, washed up on Pacific Coast this year

At least 81 gray whales have washed up this year along the coasts of California, Oregon, Washington, and Alaska. They're even showing up at the Ports of LA and Long Beach and inside the San Francisco Bay. Scientists are calling this an “unusual mortality event," and they're trying to figure out what to do with the carcasses. It could take at least a year for the carcasses to decompose naturally at isolated beaches.
