Obama Proposes a Shift in US Nuclear Strategy

gates.jpgThe Obama Administration today unveiled a new strategy for nuclear weapons. Defense Secretary Robert Gates said that rather than develop new warheads, the Nuclear Posture Review provides for using only "components based on previously tested designs and will not support new military missions or provide for new military capabilities" Yesterday, President Obama discussed the NPR with two New York Times reporters. David Sanger is also author of The Inheritance: The World Obama Confronts and the Challenges to American Power.
