The Roots of Chinese Organized Crime in America

Yesterday, State Senator Leland Yee was among those arrested in San Francisco and charged with wire fraud, trafficking in firearms and other federal crimes.  The FBI has released a 137-page complaint complete with the biography of one co-conspirator, 54-year-old Raymond Chow, also called "Shrimp Boy."

Yesterday, State Senator Leland Yee was among those arrested in San Francisco and charged with wire fraud, trafficking in firearms and other federal crimes. The FBI has released a 137-page complaint complete with the biography of one co-conspirator, 54-year-old Raymond Chow, also called "Shrimp Boy." He is described as the “Dragonhead” of the Ghee Kung Tong — an organization with roots in 17th Century China. Sheldon Zhang is Professor of Sociology at San Diego State University.
