State Parks Will Probably Stay Open

To help solve California's budget shortfall, Governor Schwarzenegger proposed to eliminate 220 of the state's 279 state parks. But the numbers are coming down. A list of 100 targeted parks was scheduled to be released sometime this month. Now the Governor's office says, "that 100 number isn't something to hang your hat on."

To help solve California's budget shortfall, Governor Schwarzenegger proposed to eliminate 220 of the state's 279 state parks. But the numbers are coming down. Paul Rogers covers the environment for the San Jose Mercury-News and public radio KQED in San Francisco.
