RADIO BROADCAST #882

02-27–26

Fanatic! I hope your week was stellar. I got some great listening in when I wasn’t proofreading. These three stand out.

Boris - Live Noise Alive (red, black glitter swirl Japanese online store 100 pressed)

Damaged Bug – Zuzax

Unissued Sixties Garage Acetates Vol. 05 Five - You Tore My Brain!

We’re playing a track from an interesting record tonight. The band is called the Glass Cage. This is from the band camp page.

“In the summer of 1968, five BC teenagers recorded an exciting six-song demo of West Coast garage psych. Cut to an acetate then lost to time for 50+ years. Until now.”

Apparently, the record took about 10 years to finally get a release after the acetate was found. It’s a worthwhile listen. https://supremeecho.bandcamp. com/album/the-glass-cage

Looking forward to playing the new Damaged Bug album Zuzax on the show later next month.

New music by our good friend and sonic ally Kim Salmon.

I just got a record by a band called Station Model Violence. I don’t know anything about them yet. I listened to some tracks and they sounded cool. We’ll put a track of theirs in the March 13 show. The record came out today. https://staticshockrecords. bandcamp.com/album/station- model-violence

Our good pal and sonic ally, Michael Mulholland, who resides and broadcasts out of beautiful Melbourne, Australia gave me the heads up that there is a new album by the great band EXEK called Prove The Mountains Move. Michael is a great source for excellent music. I do my best to always give him credit, but I must say, a lot of music that we listen to on our show is from his recommendations. Thanks, Michael! https://exek.bandcamp.com/ album/prove-the-mountains-move

Damn, albums are so expensive now. It’s an incredible buzz kill but that’s how it is.

Fanatic, as we edge ever closer to Fanatic spring 2026, I can say, with the access to upcoming records that I have access to, some of which I’m intricately involved with, that we have some incredible music to look forward to this year. I think you’re going to be beyond stoked, you find yourself in a state of temporary disbelief.

I just got an email from someone named Ian MacKaye. Decade after decade, he keeps writing me. One of these days, I’m going to figure out who this person is. Apparently he has a record label called Dischord. He said that he went and saw Kid Congo play last night and that El Kid, one of my favorite people in the history of humankind, was coming by to visit today. I am beside myself with jealousy and will have to find some way to cope. Reportedly, Kid and his incredible band are going to be doing dates in Europe with Liz Lamere opening. WOW! That’s a double bill I would like to see.

Engineer X, Engineer Am-Rock and I will be putting the finishing touches on next week’s show over the weekend. I’m listening to the tracks as I’m writing this. Really cool show we’ve got lined up.

If you take a look below, you will hopefully find tonight’s gathering of great jams to be to your liking. The Ryan Reidy tracks we’ve been playing from his album Fringe Body Parts are really rocking our second hour. https://ryanreidy.bandcamp. com/album/fringe-body-parts.

As far as I’m concerned, winter is on its last legs and spring will soon be upon us. Have a great weekend and STAY FANATIC!!!
