Today we’re serving up a hot, fresh take with “Moqueca,” a forthcoming single with some daytime Brazilian disco vibes courtesy of Raphael Futura and Captain Planet on production, in tribute to classic ‘70s Latin funk. Another artist by the name of Johnny! also draws inspiration from the ‘70s, specifically Zamrock, on a Ghanaian Afro-rock track titled “Only Love.”

Plus, we hear mega groovers “Pull Up to the Bumper” and “Williams' Blood” in birthday celebration of the queen, Grace Jones. She’ll be playing the Hollywood Bowl on Sunday September 25th as a part of the KCRW Festival.

Sustain our mix of global sounds and California wide flavor by becoming a monthly donor today! Whether it’s $5, $10, or $15 per month, anything you can give keeps these records spinning and our hot takes coming. If you want to join in the friendly competition between the Bay and LA, or represent your hometown wherever it may be, simply head to kcrw.com/give, make your donation and leave us a comment. You might just hear an on-air shoutout dedicated in your honor…
