Sep 29, 2023

By the metrics of airplay alone, our favorite off-kilter Swedish funkmeisters, Little Dragon, are well-positioned to be among KCRW’s defining artists of 2023. Their assured and expansive seventh LP Slugs Of Love has claimed the number one spot on KCRW’s Top 30 Chart six separate times — including an unprecedented run of leading the pack four weeks in a row.

Naturally, we’re stroked welcome the band for their debut performance at KCRW HQ (though it’s their latest in a long line of KCRW shows). Click in to transcend, as they elevate Slugs Of Love tracks “Amöban” and “Disco Dangerous” from instant-classic to high art. Pro-tip: watch this space for the soon-to-come video, lead singer Yukimi Nagano’s emphatic poses are a must-see. The band also delivers fan favorite deep cuts including “Ritual Union,” “Where You Belong,” and “Twice.” Plus, we engage in our first ever gratitude circle which begins with Novena thanking the band for constantly expanding her mind, and opening her up to everything that can be accomplished by really playing with sound. In turn, Little Dragon noted the tangible impact of KCRW’s support through the years on their ever-evolving career… We’re not crying, you’re crying!
