    Drug-resistant infections are one of the biggest threats to the 7.5 billion people on this planet. Increasingly, these germs are popping up in the food supply, sickening and even killing more and more people, and jeopardizing the effectiveness of some of the world’s most vital drugs.

    But in the U.S. pork industry, legal loopholes and powerful industry players are blocking scientists from getting onto the farms where these infections start. That deprives scientists of key information that could help prevent future outbreaks.
