YouTube says it will take down videos from extremist groups, but hate speech by individuals gets a pass?

YouTube drew criticism for not removing right-wing commentator Steven Crowder’s videos from its platform. YouTube says it will demonetize Crowder’s videos, meaning he can’t make money off of its ads. Vox reporter Carlos Maza, who is gay, says Crowder used YouTube to attack him with homophobic and racist slurs. Earlier this week, YouTube announced new stricter policies on harassment, but it’s been slow to put them into practice. The streaming site says it’s going to take down thousands of videos promoting neo-Nazism, white supremacy, and other bigoted views.
