SB 50, the controversial housing bill championed by California State Senator Scott Wiener, has been shelved for debate until next year. It would have forced cities like LA and San Francisco to build more housing along transit lines and in neighborhoods dominated by single-family homes. The bill seemed to have more traction in the legislature this year, after Weiner failed to get the bill to a floor vote last year.
