Despite Trump’s zero tolerance policy, the number of migrants trying to cross the border has doubled

The number of families crossing the southwest border has again broken records. Unauthorized entries have nearly doubled since a year ago. Processing centers are filled to capacity. Border agents are struggling to meet the medical needs of detainees. Thousands of migrants are crammed into a detention system that was not built to house them. It seems like the Trump administration’s tough policies on immigration have not been a deterrent.
