Boeing has formally challenged the $40 billion Air Force contract awarded to a team that includes including Boeing's rival in Europe, the European Aeronautic Defense and Space Company, maker of Airbus. That's created an uproar in Washington and around the country over jobs and national security. Boeing was expected to get the deal, and it has taken the highly unusual step of challenging the award.
