Geoffrey Cowan is University Professor of Communication and Annenberg Family Chair in Communication Leadership at the University of Southern California and the author of Let the People Rule: Theodore Roosevelt and the Birth of the Presidential Primary.  A former director of Voice of America, from 2010 to 2016 he served as the President of the Annenberg Foundation Trust at Sunnylands.
