LA Times restaurant criticPatricia Escarcega recommends you stop by Konbiin Echo Park this week for Japanese eggplant and pork katsu sandwiches. “Konbi’s food may evoke something you’d find at a 7-Eleven in Shibuya,” Escarcega writes in her review, “but you’d never confuse the complexity of flavors for anything resembling convenience.” The 10-seat cafe is owned by Akira Akuto and Nick Montgomery, and accepts credit and debit cards only.
