    Ruth Reichl   had one family ritual growing up: Eating dinner at Luchöw’s on 14th Street in Manhattan, where over the years she and her father would sample every dish and her mother never ordered anything but a German apple pancake.

    Ruth Reichlhad one family ritual growing up: Eating dinner at Luchöw’s on 14th Street in Manhattan, where over the years she and her father would sample every dish and her mother never ordered anything but a German apple pancake. Reichl’s interest in food sent her on a trajectory that bloggers and Instagram influencers can only dream of, ultimately landing her the job of editor-in-chief at Gourmet. Shedocuments her 10 years at the magazine in a memoir released this month, “Save Me the Plums.”
