- Newsmaker: Introducing James Hahn, New Mayor of Los Angeles - Los Angeles has a new mayor. City Attorney James Hahn defeated former Assemblyman Antonio Villaraigosa and takes office on the first of July. But that's just one of the massive political changes under way in the nation's second largest city. We speak with Raph Sonnenshein, professor at Cal State University Fullerton and author of "Politics in Black and White" which described the coalition that elected Tom Bradley as the nation's first black big-city mayor 30 years ago.
