FROM THIS EPISODE

Eric Garcetti's grandparents came from Mexico. He's now Mayor of Los Angeles, with more Mexicans than any place outside that country itself. We talk to him as he visits a nation that's developing faster than most Americans realize. Can California develop a partnership before Mexico becomes a competitor? Also, remember that new law requiring chefs and bartenders to wear gloves when they handle ready-to-eat food? The Assemblyman who authored it now wants it repealed — before it goes into effect.

Image-for-WWLA.jpgLater on To the Point, days after President Obama publicly questioned his commitment to peace with the Palestinians, Israeli Prime Minister Netanyahu seemed to be selling it in this morning's address to AIPAC, the pro-Israel lobby. We update the peace process, US-Israeli relations and the complicating factor of Iran's nuclear program.

California Backs Off of Food Handling Glove Law 6 MIN, 1 SEC

Governor Brown recently signed a state law requiring chefs and bartenders to cover their hands when handling ready-to-eat food — including olives and lemon slices. In the food and restaurant industry, there was an immediate uproar. Now it appears that protective glove may never go on — if the man who started it all gets his way. He's Assemblyman Richard Pan, also a medical doctor, a Democrat who represents Sacramento and surrounding areas.
