Jennifer Ferro, President, KCRW, Los Angeles
Known for her youthful, energetic management approach, Ms. Ferro’s many achievements at KCRW have included development and implementation of new approaches to improve traditional public media fundraising. She also spearheaded the expansion of KCRW's strategy to broaden community service through use of online media. Under her leadership, KCRW is working to create a vibrant community around big ideas, information, arts, culture and music.
At a remarkable time in KCRW’s history, Ms. Ferro is leading the station's team in the building of a new state-of-the-art facility. The three-story KCRW structure will be part of the Santa Monica College Academy of Entertainment and Technology Complex, which has won a creativity award from the Urban Land Institute. Designed by Clive Wilkinson Architects, the facility is scheduled for completion in Winter, 2016.
Ms. Ferro has played an integral role in the evolution of KCRW -- an internationally- recognized public radio station and community. She assumed the leadership role in 2010 after working for KCRW in increasing levels of responsibility for more than 18 years. She is currently vice chair of the AIR Board, an organization dedicated to supporting and promoting independent producers in public media. She also serves as board member of Zocalo Public Square, an ideas exchange based in Los Angeles that blends live events and humanities journalism.
In 2011, Ms. Ferro was chosen as one of Los Angeles Game Changing Women Leaders Who Make an Impact in LA in Los Angeles Magazine’s first woman issue.
Ms. Ferro earned her Bachelor’s degree from UCLA. In addition to being an avid soccer player, she also coached youth soccer for six years.
