Southern California has been relatively quiet during the COVID-19 pandemic, with the exception of a few recent high profile gatherings this week. On Monday, there was a large house party on Mulholland Drive, and neighbors called LAPD, but officers didn’t take action when they arrived around 7 p.m. Much later that night, a shooting broke out.

There was another party at the Sassafras Saloon, reportedly with dozens of guests, including first responders.

These gatherings are raising questions about the enforcement of health mandates, including a legally binding order from the LA County Department of Public Health that prohibits gatherings, including parties.
