Why are hundreds of California recycling centers closing?

Recycling centers -- those places where you bring your bottles and cans and get a little change in return – are closing. On Monday, nearly 300 of those centers were shut down across California, and 750 workers were laid off. That's despite Governor Gavin Newsom including an additional $5 million subsidy in the new budget for low-volume recyclers.
