Preventing election meddling before the 2020 election

President Trump told George Stephanopoulos of ABC News that if foreign countries offered dirt on his political rivals, he would take it. The Mueller Report detailed extensive and systematic interference by Russia in the 2016 election, and nearly everyone in Washington has acknowledged that interference happened. So what is Congress doing to prevent election meddling in 2020? Some bills are floating around, but there's not much appetite from Senate leader Mitch McConnell to take them up.
