Solutions to school shootings: More gun laws or campus security?

As mass killings keep happening in America, they send people into their predictable political corners. Democrats push for gun restrictions and assault rifle bans. Republicans insist that more gun regulation won’t work, and it’s better to add more security at schools or arm teachers. What solutions could actually work?
