Conservative Republican and billionaire Silicon Valley software developer Ron Unz is Publisher of The Unz Review. He is a former Republican gubernatorial candidate (1994) and leading opponent of Proposition 187 which sought to deny public social, educational and health services to aliens who are in California illegally. He served as Chairman of English for the Children, the main group behind  Proposition 227, providing much of the funding for the 1998 California ballot measure.
