A major development on the unpaid intern lawsuit front--NBCUniversal agreed to settle. They'll pay $6.4 million to settle a case brought by former SNL interns who claimed they should have been getting paid. Not all of that money will be going to the plaintiffs. About $1.2 million will go to attorneys. The main plaintiff, Monet Eliastam will receive $10,000, and other plaintiffs will receive payments of $5,000 or $2,000. The rest of the payout will go to thousands of other former interns who had interned at NBCU. They'll get about $500 each. There are still several other similar cases pending at studios including Fox, Sony and Warner Bros.
