Mayor Hahn versus LA Police Chief Parks
Which Way, LA? went on the air in the aftermath of the riots that came about because of the Rodney King beating. Today, ten years later, the ire of LA's black community is aroused again, this time over Mayor James Hahn's opposition to Parks' reappointment to a second 5-year term. We hear three perspectives on the dispute that has divided the city's black-liberal coalition. Hahn, who owes his election to the black vote and concedes that his supporters would be "disappointed," defends his decision. LA City Councilman Nate Holden voices the outrage of the black community. Civil rights attorney Connie Rice compares that outrage to the reaction to the Rodney King beating.
