According to journalist Greg Kaufmann, 80% of Black-owned land has been lost since 1910, the result of bad policy and discriminatory loan practices. Kaufmann explains the CARES Act, which passed in March. With billions of dollars in aid available he delves into why it seemed like a good idea for “heir properties” - farms passed down generationally.
