KCRW Summer Nights comes out of the studio and into communities across Los Angeles again this summer with a series of free, all
ages, outdoor shows. From Pasadena to Downtown L.A. to Westwood and beyond, KCRW brings hot bands, live DJ performances
and more to stages throughout L.A. – all-ages and ALL FREE. Check back for more free KCRW Summer Nights events being added all
summer long!

KCRW SunSets at Santa Monica Place

KCRW returns to Santa Monica Place with SunSets this August! Spend Wednesday evenings on the rooftop dining deck with some of your favorite KCRW DJs. Enjoy breathtaking ocean views and a happy hour soundtrack provided by KCRW's own skilled selectors -- all as the sun sets over the Pacific. The series kicks off with a special event on Sunday, August 7th in celebration of Santa Monica Place's one year anniversary and then continues every Wednesday evening through the end of August.

KCRW SunSets at Santa Monica Place is from 5pm – 7pm, and is free and open to the public. For more information, visit santamonicaplace.com.

Twilight Dance Series

The Twilight Dance Series has been a fixture on the Santa Monica Pier since 1983. Beginning July 7th, KCRW is the media sponsor for 10 free concerts on the deck of the Santa Monica Pier every Thursday evening through September 8th. Each night will be introduced by a KCRW on-air host, and showcase a different musical theme with artists from all over the world. For more information, visit twilightdance.org.

Parking
Limited parking is available in the 1550 Pacific Coast Highway Lot, on a first-come, first-served basis. There is no parking permitted on the Pier Parking Deck. Concertgoers are encouraged to take the Big Blue Bus or to utilize the free bike valet, stationed on the beach next to the bicycle path on the south side of the pier.

Summer Nights at One Colorado - Pasadena

KCRW launches the Summer Nights series with two great performances at One Colorado in the heart of historic Old Pasadena. Experience the KCRW music you love in the One Colorado Courtyard, designed in the tradition of European town squares.Seating is open – please feel free to come early and get a drink at the bar. There are plenty of places to eat nearby, so bring a friend and make a night out of it!

 

Saturday, June 11 – Diego Garcia + KCRW DJ Anne Litt
7:30PM - 9:30PM

The former frontman for acclaimed garage rockers Elefant, Diego Garcia launched his solo career with a lush record inspired by the love of his life, paying tribute to the great Latin romantics. KCRW DJ Anne Litt, who will open and close the show, calls his music a “wonderful amalgamation of Diego’s Argentine heritage, 70’s AM pop radio, and the dusty sounds of dreams.”

 

Saturday, June 25 – Motopony + KCRW DJ Dan Wilcox
7:30PM - 9:30PM

Seattle’s Motopony travels down the West Coast for a special appearance at One Colorado. The band’s music runs the gamut from quiet and plaintive to loud and raucous. KCRW Music Director Jason Bentley calls the group's music “magnetic,” and says it caught his ear straight away with a sound that is both fresh and familiar. KCRW DJ Dan Wilcox will open and close the show.

One Colorado is an outdoor shopping, dining and entertainment district spanning one city block in Old Pasadena, between Colorado Boulevard, Union, Delacey and Fair Oaks.

The One Colorado parking structure may be accessed from Fair Oaks northbound, between Colorado and Union Street; or from Union Street westbound between Raymond and Fair Oaks. Chinatown Summer Nights - Downtown LA

Chinatown Summer Nights returns for two Saturdays this summer! Part food event and part summer party, Chinatown Summer Nights features live cooking demonstrations, hands-on Chinese cultural activities, video projections, food trucks, authentic Chinese restaurants, and KCRW DJs rockin' the dance floor – all in the heart of one of L.A.'s most unique neighborhoods. The fun begins at 5pm and continues until midnight. Admission is FREE and open to all ages.

KCRW and the Hammer Museum Present
Also I Like to Rock

Every Thursday evening in July, Also I Like to Rock returns to the Hammer Museum courtyard for a series of free, all-ages outdoor concerts featuring today's top emerging bands. With a line up curated by Buzz Bands L.A., the evenings kick off at 7pm with DJ sets by KCRW's own selectors followed by two band performances. Galleries will be open until 9pm. Admission is on a first come, first-served basis. Hammer Museum members and KCRW subscribers at all levels get priority entry and exclusive access to the VIP lounge!

Grand Performances at California Plaza

Grand Performances has been bringing free music, spoken word and dance to downtown's California Plaza for the past 25 years. This summer, KCRW is presenting two great Grand Performance concerts with KCRW DJs introducing each show. Friday, July 15 - Seun Kuti & Egypt 80, hosted by KCRW DJ Garth Trinidad

Torchbearer and soul-incarnate of Fela Anikulapo Kuti, Seun Kuti and the famous Egypt 80 Band return to Grand Performances for an evening of funky, soulful, driving African rhythms. Celebrating his new release, From Africa with Fury: Rise, Kuti continues his father's musical message against corruption, injustice and the many problems affecting Nigeria and all of Africa.

 

Friday, July 22 - Fania Records' Africa Caribe by Joaquin "Joe" Claussell and Palenke Soultribe, hosted by KCRW DJ Raul Campos - 8:00PM

Fania Records opens its vaults to famous NY House/Dance/Ambient DJ Joaquin "Joe" Claussell and his six-piece band, giving them leeway to remix and create a new vibe for classic recordings by such Latin funk/salsa/merengue greats as, Mongo Santamaria, Ray Barretto and Celia Cruz. Palenke Soultribe opens with its mix of electronica, pop, rock and Colombian folk sounds, all driven by turntables and looped laptop grooves.

California Plaza parking rates are $7.50 starting 2 hours before evening Grand Performances events. The garage is most easily accessed from Olive Street between 1st and 4th Streets.

Segerstrom Center for the Arts - Orange County

Join KCRW's Matt Holzman of Matt's Movies for a free, outdoor screening of the 70's cult classic, Harold & Maude. The screening is part of Segerstrom Center for the Arts "Free For All Movie Mondays," and will take place under the stars on the Community Plaza. Set up begins at 5:30pm and the movie starts at dusk (approximately 8pm). Bring friends & family, beach chairs & blankets, snacks & picnic dinners. There will also be snacks available for purchase.
