Parking spots were once the most coveted asset of a Los Angeles restaurant, and now businesses are using these spots for outdoor dining. The City of Santa Monica has allowed eateries on Main Street to adapt and personalize the design of the parking lane out front. KCRW’s Frances Anderton describes the leniency of permitting agencies to allow umbrellas, hedge, and carpet on the streets of Santa Monica.
