How to make bánh chung for Tết

Hosted by

The Vietnamese New Year kicks off on Monday. For Diep Tran, who is chef and owner of Good Girl Dinette in Highland Park, Tết celebrations are not complete without making a batch of very labor intensive cakes of sticky rice, pork and beans wrapped up in banana leaves. They're called bánh chung.

Hear from Tran how she learned to make them from her grandmother. Then, ring in the lunar new year with sweet and savory bánh chung at Good Girl Dinette. And if you've got a few days, try to make "The Matriarch" with Tran's recipe on the Good Food blog.
